Stress can have a significant impact on our body & mind, but it often goes unacknowledged in our life. Here are just some of the signs & symptoms of stress:
Feeling on edge
Eating more, or less
Sleeping more, or less than usual
Feeling emotional
Using alcohol or drugs to relieve or escape
Chronic back or neck pain
Tension headaches or migraines
Hormonal imbalances
Heart palpitations
Depression and anxiety
Digestive problems
Weight loss or gain
Feeling disconnected, unfulfilled or unmotivated
Poor concentration or memory
Teeth grinding
Withdrawing from friends and family
How many are applicable to you? Have you examined the possible source of stress in your life? If you’re experiencing any of these signs & symptoms it may be a result of stress.

For years I felt shame and guilt for feeling anxious, unfulfilled, unmotivated, emotionally exhausted...I didn't think I had anything to be stressed or anxious about, some people have real adversity to deal with. The problem was, my stress wasn’t your traditional stress you may have witnessed from your parents, or on TV or in movies. Our perception of ourselves, the world, our circumstances and the events in our life has a significant impact on our stress levels (and how we respond to stress). Here are some of the possible sources of mental or emotional stress in no particular order:
1. Frustration, anger and feeling unheard or unseen
2. Limiting beliefs, pessimism, attitudes, stories, roles and world views
3. Misalignment with your spiritual beliefs, core values or life purpose
4. Lack of social support, relationship issues or lack of boundaries
5. Lack of resources for basic survival
6. Low self-esteem, self-worth or self-confidence
7. Being judgmental or critical of yourself/others
8. People pleasing and lack of boundaries
9. Too much social interaction (introvert) or too little (extrovert)
10. Fears and phobias
11. Grief, loss and sadness
12. Resentment, jealousy and comparison
13. Guilt and shame
14. The need to constantly be in control
15. Feeling taken for granted or unappreciated
16. Taking on too much responsibility
17. Attachments and resistance to change
Have any of these resonated with you? Have something to add? Share in the comments💕
